Vis island means an extraordinarily clean sea and rich submarine world – not only by its beautiful fauna and flora, but also by numerous sunken ships. Many hidden beaches and bays, accessible only by sea, can make your holiday a memorable experience.
Aside from renowned, rock-circled Stiniva Cove with the stony beach, there are many others: Ploče, Velka Travna, Mala Travna, Srebrena, Milna.
Visitors can enjoy a voyages around surrounding islands. Next to Komiža Town, there is a Biševo island, known for its sandy beaches, and a world famous blue cavern called Modra špilja, which is a unique natural phenomenon. Another cavern called Zelena špilja can be found at Ravnik island.
Vis island has a ferry connection with Split from the Vis Town. It is the cleanest part of Adriatic sea. It was inaccessible to all foreigners until 1989. Local cuisine and gastronomy are rich – aside from fishery, there is a major viticultural industry. Three species of grapes are commonly grown at the sandy soil: Plavac Mali, Kurteloska Vugava and Bugava.
